BREAKING NEWS
The Chansons of Jacques Arcadelt (c.1504 – 1568)
Delving into a repertoire four hundred years older than the songs which cheered post-war Paris – and further to the success of Cantabile’s latest CD, Lullabyes and Goodbyes –
The London Quartet’s latest venture with Signum Records will be a recording dedicated entirely to the substantial but largely neglected output of songs in French by the Franco-Flemish renaissance madrigalist,
Jacques (or Jacob) Arcadelt.
William Shakespeare / John Dankworth
At the other end of the musical spectrum Cantabile are proud to announce that British jazz legend Sir John Dankworth is currently scheduling a new composition for them, with a first performance expected soon. Early in their career The London Quartet were honoured with an Allmusic Award, presented by the foundation established by Sir John and his wife, singer Dame Cleo Laine, for their work in crossing musical boundaries – an eclecticism which continues to hallmark their programming into their upcoming twenty-fifth anniversary year.
